What is a hydrophobic coating?

 A hydrophobic coating is a water-repellent coating. Many people use it as a sealant for bicycles, boats, cars, and more to protect the paint and extend its lifespan. Most hydrophobic coatings contain a mixture of materials known as fluorinated polyurethane elastomer. Applying this type of coating to surfaces like a car helps repel fog and moisture, improving visibility while driving and providing protection against corrosion and rust. These coatings typically last about a year before needing to be reapplied.
